The Grammys outfits from last night’s 2022 red carpet were so extra, they gave the Oscars red carpet a run for their money. A-listers headed to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas for the event, and what a turnout it was.
Lady Gaga, Saweetie, Dua Lipa, Kourtney Kardashian and Paris Hilton were just some of the big names attending the ceremony which celebrated the best in music.
Whether on purpose or not, everyone seemed to have gotten the fashion memo, since the Grammys outfits seemed to fall into three major trends: hot pink, black or sequins.
In the pink camp, St. Vincent looked majestic in a metallic gown with neon pink feathers, designed by Alessandro Michele from Gucci. Saweetie took inspiration from Marylin Monroe’s Gentlemen Prefer Blondes pink dress in a custom two-piece by Valentino, as did Billy Porter in Valentino also. Meanwhile, Chrissy Teigen made her big return to the red carpet in a prom-worthy dress. It was an important night for her since her husband John Legend was being honoured with the Recording Academy Global Impact Award.
Over in the classic black camp, Lady Gaga stole the show in an Armani Prive gown which served us old school Hollywood glamour thanks to its sleek design and white satin trail – we’ve come a long way from the meat dress days. Dua Lipa took inspiration from Liz Hurley’s safety pin dress in a Valentino number, and Avril Lavigne, Kourntey Kardashian and Billie Eilish all opted for goth-inspired black gowns too.
Finally, there were sequins aplenty (as per every red carpet dress code in the world), and Paris Hilton took the theme to heart in her pretty dress which featured a cape, while Tiffany Haddish and Chloe Bailey opted for shimmering silver gowns.
