Cape May, NJ

A little overdue, but finally getting together my Cape May, NJ blog post for you all! We decided it would be fun for Logan’s birthday this year to get our immediate families together to celebrate our little guy turning TWO. My brother and his family have a beach house 10 minutes from where we stayed, which worked out perfectly. The AirBNB we were at (Pocket on Perry) slept 19 people, was walkable to town, coffee shops, restaurants and the beach and just truly an overall gem! You can check out this post where I shared Logan’s “yee-haw” 2nd birthday party we threw at the house! I also saved all my Stories from Cape May over on my Instagram Highlights as well.

The house was perfect for families and ironically one of my girlfriends texted me after watching one of my Stories on Instagram saying that she stayed there for a Bachelorette. With the front and backyard and huge porch there were plenty of places to hang out and relax. One thing to note, if staying during the warmer months, the owners have a lock box on the beach with all your chairs, umbrellas, etc so no need to carry anything! This alone (especially if you have kids) is such a nice feature! They even gave me a code to share with you all for 10% off your stay, just mention “Kendall at the Cape” when booking.

About 1.5 miles from the house is the most magical place called Beach Plum Farm. You can go and visit the farm, feed the animals and enjoy the landscape and even grab a bite to eat if you want at their restaurant. They also have a cute little shop where you can pick up a few yummy snacks (highly recommend the dill dip) and a libation and enjoy it casually on their grounds. Logan had a freaking field day as you can see below! What I learned after leaving is that there are even pigs to say hi to if you continue down the long road!

Also, a few other things that were super convenient to Pocket On Perry’s location, the ACME supermarket and CVS were within a few blocks from the house as well as a liquor store. Just past the ACME and when heading in and out of town there is a playground that Logan and the kids had a blast playing on. Also, maybe 2-3 blocks form the house there is the cutest children’s boutique, Happy Baby, where I did some damage.

Grandparents on duty! My mom, Logan and I at the farm and then my dad and father-in-law took Logan on a walk to the beach where he ran around and splashed in some puddles on one of the cloudy days. Another easy activity that both of our parents did was checking out the lighthouse.

Another great activity for kids near by (maybe a 20ish minute drive) is the Cape May Zoo! Better yet, it is FREE. A decent sized zoo, without being overwhelming. They kids loved it here. They also have a enormous playground across from the parking lot to really tire your kids out 😉

When the younger adults could escape for a bit while the grandparents were on duty during nap time, we walked down the street to Elaine’s. Huge outdoor bar and also a restaurant, often with live music starting around 4pm. If looking for a few other places to grab a bite and or drink, I would recommend: Quincy’s Lobster Rolls (perfect for takeout) // Beach Plum Cafe (coffee + baked goods, literally next to the house) // The Lobster House // Two Mile Landing Crab House (very kid friendly, ate here with all our families, we had our own room which was nice and located right on the water) // Uncle Bill’s Pancake House (breakfast must) — there are so many other great restaurants, these are just the places we got to!
